2011 PHA Year End Standings for HMS Horses and Riders see http://www.syracusepha.org/uploads/point_standings_final_2011.pdf

Wednesday, December 14, 2011

We're looking forward to seeing all our friends and riders who will be home for the holidays. Please stop by the barn, say hello to your favorite horses, and maybe even fit in a lesson - and for those who rode at HMS many years ago, stop by, say hello to Terese and Dick, and meet our current collection of wonderful barn cats, ponies, and horses!

Wednesday, December 7, 2011

When you visit the barn, be sure to look in the straight stalls to say hello to our visitor, Toal. Toal is a miniature horse, and we love to have him visit!!

Friday, November 25, 2011

When you are out at the barn this week, be sure to pick up the new 2012 calendar that celebrates the Nazareth College Equestrian Team horses: Junior, Lacey, Pete, Champ, GeeWiz, Siggy, Socks, Teddy, Missy, Riley, Sterling, and Izzy. The calendars are $20 and the sales benefit the Team. There are a limited number available, so get one while you can!!

Friday, November 18, 2011

FYI that there are no lessons Saturday or Sunday as 12 of our horses will be at the Nazareth College Equestrian Team's IHSA Show; on Sunday, the riders for the HMS IEA team will be traveling with Michelle to their third show which will be in Skaneateles. It will be a busy weekend, but quiet weekend at the barn!!

Thursday, November 17, 2011

When you are out at the barn, take a peek in the feed aisle (off the straight stalls). Leslie, with Jenelle's assistance, has revolutionized the process of feeding horses, so every feeder is sure that they are giving the correct feed and quantity to the correct horse. The attention to detail is amazing, helping to ensure that there is less of a chance for error. Thanks Leslie and Jenelle, for undertaking this monumental task!!

Barb Polle, who has provided Gracie and King with a retirement home on her farm writes: "Gracie is setting in very nicely. She is undoubtedly the alpha as you can see by one of the pictures. (Posted on Facebook) She has King a few steps behind her. As with any bonding, there’s been a few minor scuffles, but no biting or hoof impacts. Of course King has been on the receiving end so I’ve kept a close eye on things." We're so glad that King and Gracie have a loving home!

We finally have some beautiful weather for outdoor riding after all that rain. Thursday afternoon and evening were lovely, and the back ring (although muddy in spots still) was put to good use, right up until the moon was high. This weekend should be awesome for riding, too. And perhaps giving your horse a bubble bath while it is still warm. Enjoy!!

Yesterday evening Dick, Randy, and Olivia worked to get the hay in before today's rains. The indoor ring had three hay wagons under cover, and it smells so sweet and rich. They'll be able to get in into the haylofts at a more leisurely pace, knowing that the hay is safe from damage. Check out the photos on our Facebook page.

Tuesday August 27, 2011

Yesterday evening was absolutely beautiful weather and Dick used it to good advantage by baling second cutting hay. The hay is incredibly green and fragrant, and the horses will love it. Also, our friend Leslie is back from her vacation in South Africa. When you see her, be sure to ask her about her adventures there.
